A350 future customers
At this moment, there is just one airline has ordered 10 A350s (Air Europa) It seems that A350 isn't attractive enough to have more customers. But I am sure that Airbus is working hard to promote the A350 to the airlines which are considering to order B787.
I remember Finnair said that it will order the A350 to replace their MD-11 if Airbus builds them before Airbus offically introduces A350. But why Finnair hasn't ordered them yet? Are they considering to order B787 instead of A350?
So, at last, which airlines do you think will order A350 in near future?
My guesses:
Asia: Cathay Pacific, Korean Air, Singapore Airlines
Europe: Aer Lingus, Iberia, LOT, Finnair
North America: Air Canada

I wouldn't rule out QF, they are looking at many options for their long-haul fleet...although the frontrunner is Boeing with the 773/ER and the 772/LR. Qantas want to open up new routes and old ones that have been cancelled due to low pax on the 744's. Also rumours that QF will cease the Frankfurt run. But QF haven't ruled out the a345 and the a346. Decision will come sometime in the not to distant future...i'll keep you guys posted.
Cheers

I could see a possible Northwest order (for A350 or 787) a few years down the road for route expansion. As some of you may know, Northwest is flying many of it's flights out of its new "focus cities" in Indianapolis, IN and Milwaukee, WI. Northwest could start some flights to Asia or Europe from its focus cities.

I agree NW would be a nice A350 customer, but not a B787. As you said, I don't see NW ordering it before many years.
2 reasons for NW select the A350:
- PW-EXX engine haven't been selected by Boeing for the B787, and should be selected for the A350 (NW is a PW customer).
- NW is already a strong A330 customer
Regards
Seb.

sab319 is correct in saying that KLM is a very loyal Boeing customer. I believe that the only reason KLM ordered the A330 was because Northwest had ordered it. If NW would have gotten the 767, KLM would have ordered more 767s instead of the A330.Jense wrote:Yes, but they also have some A330's on order!sab319 wrote:I doubt that KLM will order the A350, they are a very loyal boeing cotumer although after the KL-AF merger everything is possible...

I see SAA also being a future A350 customer. They seem very happy with their buses and look to be driving towards becoming an all airbus operator.
Air Tanzania may be another possible customer if they launch longhaul routes out of Dar-es-Salaam and mainly because of the influence SAA is having on them. (SAA recently acquired some stakes in Air Tanzania and intend on building a hub in Dar to compete with KQ's JKIA hub in Nairobi).
ET is definitely out of the picture having recently ordered 787s. I do not see KQ ordering the A350, maybe the 787 for future replacement of the 767s. Rumor had it that KQ and Airbus had a nasty falling out especially after the loss of the A310 in Abidjan and that this played a big role in KQ selecting the 767/777 combo over the A330 for its longhaul fleet renewal that replaced the A310s.
Cheers,
Walter.

KLM is for the moment phased out his fleet of B767. It's going to start within some weeks till next year. And I can tell you that there will be in a short time many B767 will disappear by KLM. Instead of the B767 they received a lot of A330.nwa757 wrote:[sab319 is correct in saying that KLM is a very loyal Boeing customer.
