Holidays

Post by Comet »

Has anyone had any good holidays this year? Or are you going anywhere good?
I have had four days in Dublin (plus an overnight in Manchester which provided some superb spotting oppotunities) and flew with Aer Lingus from MAN to DUB. That was 15th-19th June.
My next one is from 31st August to 10th September - an overnight in London to spot at London City and then fly out to Antwerp on 1st September. I'm staying in Mechelen for that one, visiting Oudenaarde, Oostende, Brussels, Liege and Antwerp (and hoping to see Brussels in sunshine for the first time ever!!)
(Sorry for taking over other threads with this holiday stuff)

My trip report will normally be up at the end of this week or the beginning of next week!

Keep tuned!

Just like you, I also stayed overnight in MAN (for spotting purposed) + was in DUB 2 times.

The end of holidays - I know the feeling Rutger!!
I started computer college on Monday (18th August), and I hardly seem to have time for the things I like doing anymore (though always having internet access does allow me a permanent log in to the chatroom, so there are some perks!!)

Good luck with the jumpseat ride Chris.

I went in the jumpseat of an Air New Zealand Boeing 747-400 a few years ago, the views from the flight deck windows of the Greenland mountains were sensational, I would recommend anyone to take the opportunity if they had chance, there really is nothing to beat being on the flightdeck of an airliner.

Hurry up, Chris.

I read somewhere that in November, when the safe armoured doors will be compulsory on European aircraft, pilots will not be allowed anymore to let passengers go into the cockpit.

Anxiously waiting for your trip report :)

I have to say that I'm surprised that airlines still allow passengers onto the flight deck, I would have thought after 11th September, it would have been banned outright with immediate effect. I've never bothered with flight deck visits on the smaller aircraft, they don't have as much space, but I would have loved to see the flight deck of the A320 with it being fly by wire and having the joystick instead of the conventional control columns.
Anyway Chris, whether or not you go on the flight deck, enjoy your trip.

Last year I wrote a motivation letter and gave it two the two crews.
On the flight to FCO, they told me that it wasn't possible because of September 11, and on my way back the crew had no problem with it.
So i think this isn't only about company policies, but it all depends on the crew you have.

I got a few weeks off, but I am supposed to be painting a nursery. This job was postponed due to the heatwave. In the meanwhile the newborn has arrived and delay is not longer available/allowable/possible/negociable/......
The name of the new game is : babyfood, pampers, short nights, ....
but I'll do it with pleasure (for the time being)
