Request: Paris CDG driving directions

Post by Sabena_690 »

Hi all,

There is a chance of 50% that I'll be able to go to CDG tomorrow.

I know how to go to CDG, but there it stops. Can anybody point me (or better said: the driver, as I won't drive) into the right direction to reach the parking place near the Ibis Hotel, from where you can walk to the 'hill' in front of the busy taxiway? Meerkat, Emirates and EPS_Aviation: it's the place where we were a few months ago, so if you guys see this topic, a reply is more than welcome!

Thanks for your help!
Frederic

Go to www.ibis.fr
Type "Roissy" in location
Find "Charles de Gaulle" in the list
Click "Acces"
and you get a map.

Learn to help yourself, man...

Hi aureus,

Thanks but... as far as I remember, it's near the Ibis, but not besides the Ibis. And if I remember well, it's a slightly different route to the parking I'm talking about... but I can be wrong though

CDG-spotting for today has been cancelled unfortunately...

MD-11er: it's a bit difficult to explain... you are on a field with grass, with on your right a lot of parked aircraft, in front of you a busy taxiway, and on your left a busy road, and a taxiway to the Air France-gates. You are in the middle of the airport, with a hotel (which is popular with spotters, it's an IBIS if I'm not mistaken) behind you.

MD-11er,
These runways are called "the parallelles" because you have 2 runways dividing a bit the airport in 2 parts.
From this point of view (Ibis behind you and Sofitel in front of you) you see all traffic coming from T1 going to T2 and vice versa and you have a good view of T9 (which used to be T3) where mainly charters have their stands.
Also some movements from T1 (called "the Camembert") can be seen.

Bon, for those still interested.
It's teh Sofitel in front of and the HILTON behind you. Not the Ibis.
The best way to get there is to take the exit CDG on the highway and then you follow the signs aerogares. When you are at the redlights turn left as if you turn right you will be go to the T2.
So turn left you will pass in front of the Hilton, the left again.
You can park your car there on the left.
Now there is a big problem in CDG.
You cannot spot from that place anymore. Military police is chasing you everywhere. So, for those interested in spotting in CDG have some good running shoes as you will see those green guys constantly.
I heard that the fence was gone at the Meteo center so it will be better to spot overthere.
To get there follow the signs Zone technique. They lead you to the meteo.

Last time a was there (03-12-04), I stayed on that place for almost the whole day without seeing any police ... But that's more then 2 months ago so the situation can be changed now (let's hope not)
