Rumour: Globeground loses SAS to Aviapartner at EBBR

Post by Loadcontroller »

It's being said that SAS (Scandinavian Airlines)' handling will no longer be performed by Globeground at Brussels Airport.

New handler used to be Aviapartner!

This is the 2nd time Ap got away with one of Globeground's major costumers...

Exact date is unknown...

Normally within 2 or 3 months...

I can confirm that SAS is switching to Aviapartner for the handling of their flights.

Starting date seems to be 1st April.
Aviapartner already handles SAS at some airports in France and Italy.

Aviapartner

Is this contract a full-handling contract...????
Or is it only Check-in and boarding and Lost & Found.

Except loadsheet this is performed by SAS staff in BKK!

Because Aviapartner was only performing the catering now for SAS!

My opinion is now that AP is trying to take every airline due too their lower offer of price for full-handling....

They really need staff now, they were allready in trouble now with Thomas Cook...

So I suppose that there wille arrive a lot of jobs...

SAS

Post by Loadcontroller »

That will never happen, because I know when Tcw left Globeground, they took nobody with them to Aviapartner...

And they will absolutely need a lot of people / aircraft types Md-80 - 737

That's not a crj and flights were really fully-booked

Now let's see what Dlh will do!

SAS was handled by AVP some years ago, but they switched to SN, and then later to BGS.

If I remember well, AVP-catering has had the contract for quite some time now.

Probably, temporary contracts will be extented and part-time contracts will become full-time.

It promises to be a long hot summer

SAS changes handling agent at BRU

Post by velovanminus »

I can confirm :
SAS will be handled as from april first by Aviapartner. It will be full handling, check-in and ramp handling. So both BGS and Globeground are loosing a customer. SAS has had Aviapartner for a caterer already since many many years.
I suspect that like it was when FQ changed from Globeground to Aviapartner for their check-in some of the globeground staff will be able to switch to Aviapartner.
Situation seems to become very difficult for Globe now. Probably BGS won't like it either, but I guess they can support a small shock.

Small question : why should TCW take over some staff from Globe ??

They just changed handling agent !!

Don t see any reasons why you should start taking over staff from them ??

It should/will be Aviapartner who will need more staff to handle more
airlines.

That's true "Thomas Cook"!

Avia should take over the staff....!!!!!!

Off course, thomas cook needs no loaders, or mop's....

Don't get me wrong!

That SAS will go to aviapartner is not surpsingly. Also Lufthansa will go to Avia in a few year. I thought that was already decided and since SAS and lufthansa are in the same alliance they will switch to the same as Lufthansa. Untill know the contracts for Lufthansa and SAS where always done by the same handlers. So i think it is the obvious choice of SAS.
Ofcourse Avia will need extra personell to handle all these companies.
It is a pitty that BGS didn't get these big contracts. It would have been good for the peronell since now a lot of them are working under 50 or 75% contracts.

GlobeGround is the best one in the world!

In europe Swissport and aviapartner.....But GlobeGround is very close!

I don't think the station in Brussels will survive in 2006.

Last contract is Lufthansa in 2006.

Yes, we'll see....

Another ground handler is not necessary at Brussels and I don't think that Globeground will receive that license...

Aviapartner and Bgs have the ground handling now untill 2007...

Only hope is that Lufthansa will buy Globeground...

Sow that we have again Lufthansa staff in Brussels....

LH still has a contract with GG until mid 2006. So it really isn't looking good for GG when LH keeps on sending those small a/c, they can't make any profit with that.
The ramp handling license in BRU was given for 7 years, so until 2011 AP and BGS can devide and rule.

According to the Gazet van Antwerpen, AVP will hire 50 additional people for checkin, loading and loading supervisors

Is GlobeGround not a subsidiary of Lufthansa? Why in that case should Lufthansa change?

Don't know if there is a link, but Globeground workers are on strike at Roissy airport.

GlobeGround was a subsidiary of LH. It's now part of Serviceair.
