Post by itsdoctorv »

That's the last thing they needed... At least it looks like the crew was OK.

It arrived in pitch blackness apparently so for the pilots to even expect a water buffalo on the runway in the first place yet alone in the dark is a bit beyond them. Is assume the perimeter of the airport is damaged in some way.

It could have been hamburgers, had the buffalo been sucked into the engine.

To be serious I am not surprised at all by such accidents .
The local situation is complete chaos. Who bothers about some buffalos?
I remember Mae Hong Song airport, where an old chap chases away the dogs by thowing stones, each time an airplane wants to land. Local traffic also crosses the strip.
It is a crisis over there. They have other things on their heads.

That is really some bad luck. To think that the water buffalo survived the Tsunami and in the end it became sliced meat.
Glad to hear that no one got injured except for the buffalo :) :) :)

Hello

Auch!!! Poor beast! Well, at least they had one good thing about it,
meat. An ofcourse it's very well that nobody got hurd and the airport
is reopened. Could have been again a disaterous thing if the airport had
to close for a long time.

Best regards: Yannick

I saw this vague picture on TV and the CNN website. Does anyone know the company and/or registration which was involved in the buffalo-incident ?

The wild Asian buffalo has a length of 2.4 - 3 m (7.8 - 9.8') and weighs 800 - 1200 kg (1800 - 2600 lb). :)

Moose: Males weigh on average over 550 kg (1200 lbs) and females often more than 400 kg (900 lbs). 8)
