A380 $2bn over budget!!!

The Airbus A380 superjumbo project is running 1.45bn euros (£1bn; $1.9bn) over budget, the company's majority owner EADS has admitted.

What I do not understand is how the hell it got over by that mutch!!?

IIRC the official quote was "up to" US$ 2 billion above budget and that through to 2009. As a %, it is ca. 20% which is perfectly reasonably given the size and timescale of the project.

Furthermore, quoting US$ (instead of €) gives an inflated figure due to the present currency situation.

Unfortunately Airbus sales are in dollars, but all their european operations such as wages utilities etc are in Euro, so in my opinion it is fair and reasonable to consider the cost overuns in $.
