Ryanair Holdings CEO Michael O’Leary forecasts Alitalia (or ITA Airways, whatever) will end up with Lufthansa, while TAP Air Portugal will finish up in IAG, and easyJet is going to finish up being bought by either British Airways or Air France. Also, Lufthansa will end up buying Wizz Air.

Another wild guess, anyone?

More seriously, Ryanair Holdings is not seeing any signs of recession, CEO Michael O’Leary said, pointing to two weeks of record bookings this January 2023 and a recovery in demand from Britain.

Ryanair announced a major recruitment drive for a further 200 cabin crew in Dublin as the airline prepares for a busy 2023 summer.

Ryanair has asked a US court to dismiss a counterclaim made against it by Booking.com (Netherlands) in a legal case launched by the carrier against the online travel giant almost three years ago.

Ryanair installed Split Scimitar Winglets to the first of over 400 of its B737-800 NG aircraft. This modification will improve aircraft fuel efficiency by up to 1.5%, reducing Ryanair’s annual fuel consumption by 65 million litres and carbon emissions by 165,000 tonnes.

Ryanair has added new routes to Venice from five UK airports to its summer 2023 schedule, operating two weekly flights from Birmingham, Bournemouth, Edinburgh, Manchester, and Bristol.

Ryanair has extended 24 of the 29 A320 leases out as far as 2028, while the carrier opportunistically added a B737 NG which became available again at attractive levels. Ryanair is eyeing the MAX 10 going forward, else it will be looking at additional MAX 8200s.

Ryanair offers four new summer 2023 routes out of Liverpool to Ibiza, Madrid, Rome Ciampino and Shannon, in a US$98 million investment that will see overall capacity increase by 15% and create 30 new jobs. A new aircraft will be based at Liverpool John Lennon Airport as well.
