Since yesterday, Brussels Airlines is back in Warsaw. Warsaw will soon be served twice daily again from September with an early departure from WAW to feed the BRU hub.

 OMG. The aircraft is suffering from an additional disease than chickenpox : bad taste.

It seems OO-SFH is stuck in CKY since yesterday evening and SN206, CKY-DSS-BRU, is cancelled.
Flight 205, BRU-DSS-CKY, had left BRU yesterday morning with 1.5h delay.

This morning OO-SFE due to operate SN241, BRU-FNA-ROB, with STD 12:10 is announced as boarding from B Pier. No a good outlook.

Am I only seeing a half full glass so to speak but isn't SN having a bit too many AOG, too many technical incidents ?
If my evaluation were to be right, where is the problem ?
Insuffisant maintenance ? Too old aircraft ? Too much pressure from "upstairs" too maximise performance, whatever the possible consequences ?
I hope it's just bad luck...

A Brussels Airlines A320 lost a tire this afternoon on its way to the runway of Vilnius airport, Lithuania.
Another aircraft was sent to Vilnius to fly the pax to Brussels this evening. There were 175 passengers and 6 crew members on board.

This is because yesterday there where 7 Africa departures and at the moment we only have 6 stands available due to works in de T-zone, it happens more with this flight, nothing special.

Thanks for the info.
And indeed Echo left about on time.
In the meantime SFH also came back this morning.

Makes you question the quality of maintenance at Brussels Airlines... :?

It's not the quality of Brussels Airlines maintenance I question the most after reading this post.

Poor maintenance practices from whoever changed the tire last (tires do get changed away from BRU by local maintenance providers!), foreign-object debris on the runway/taxiway damaged the tire, abnormal wear/tear, construction/assembly defect... It will be investigated, and jumping to conclusions now just shows a general lack of knowledge.

On what basis do you conclude that?
AOGs may be more visible at Brussels Airlines because the fleet is small and highly utilized. Airlines that have 200+ aircraft don't have the same problem because when an aircraft goes AOG unexpectedly, there is often one idle that can be swapped because it came back from maintenance/paint early, is about to go to maintenance, is not due to operate that day, etc... and disruptions are less noticeable.
Larger airlines have entire teams whose only job is managing AOGs.

At the same time, an AOG at an outstation is always going to be disruptive and noticeable, no matter the airline.

At the risk of perhaps repeating myself : who is responsible for this situation ? I may suggest an answer to thus question, but let me hear you first :(

I agree when you say that an AOG is always going to be (more) disruptive at an outpost station.
But you also say that "larger airlines have entire teams whose only job is managing AOGs".
Just out of curiosity : did SN get any support from the "LH Group" especially now that it seems to be a serious incident ?
