First American F-35A Lightning II from RAF Lakenheath Visits Leeuwarden

Post by Redskin301 »

In this video the first American F-35A Lightnings from Lakenheath are show during their first visit to the Netherlands. Both planes visited Leeuwarden during Frisian Flag during the VIP visitors day at the airbase. The F-35's belong to the newly founded 495th fighter Squadron at RAF Lakenheath. This unit is here part of the 48th Fighter Wing. The F-35's of this unit are the first American F-35's which are based permanently in Europe. In total there will be two F-35 unit based at Lakenheath in the future. Also the 493rd Fighter Squadron will receive this type. The unit said at the beginning of 2022 already goodbye to the good old F-15C Eagle. This was the last unit in Europe flying this version of the Eagle.

Next to the American Lightnings, of course also the Frisian Flag participants are seen in this video. This time the launch of the Dutch Volkel Viper and a French TBM700 heading home. Finally also the recovery of four Mirage 2000D fighters from Nancy!!

Kind Regards, Alex van Noije
