So as it is now all they have is 52 firm orders? All Nippon Airways became the Dreamliner's launch customer with a 50-jet order in April. In the days that followed, Boeing executives confidently predicted they would have 200 firm orders on the books by the end of the year and 500 orders by the time of the first flight in 2007.
They based that on an enthusiastic response that "wildly exceeded our expectations," said John Feren, Boeing vice president in charge of 7E7 sales. Airlines have put down cash deposits on more than 200 7E7s, he said.
But those deposits have not translated into orders. All Nippon has signed its 50-plane deal, but the only other signed contract is with Air New Zealand, which is buying two 7E7s.
Four other airlines, including Blue Panorama, have announced their intentions to order a total of 39 7E7s. But the biggest potential order in that group came from startup Primaris Airline, which at the time of its announcement was still trying to raise cash to expand its one-jet fleet.
That is 148 firm predictions that Boeing dreamed up huh? Unless they get them all in a couple of weeks which we all know isnt likely

Forza 8)
The deposits for additional aircraft amounts to about 300 million dollars. They based that on an enthusiastic response that "wildly exceeded our expectations," said John Feren, Boeing vice president in charge of 7E7 sales. Airlines have put down cash deposits on more than 200 7E7s, he said.
they are not about to throw that away. You also have to take into consideration the financial year end of the carriers, and the budget plans for the next fiscal year, they, like any other business must base their projections on current events,
But you can be assured that when Boeing says they expect to have 200 orders, it will happen. They probably are the most conservative manufacturer in regards to customer orders.

A very interesting article on the future of aviation in the far east, and a more specific outlook on the size of aircraft and the bypassing of hub and spoke operations.

Here is an interview from the Boeing inhouse news magazine " Boeing Frontiers"bits44 wrote:Thats cool!
There is speculation and it's a completley unconfirmed, but nudge nudge wink wink! that Air China is going to order around 120 aircraft, with a mix of 7E7's and 777. which would explain why they only ordered 23 from Air Bus and no A380's.
Of particular interest are the sections regarding 7E7 deposits on 200 aircraft, and the number of interested customers in an additional 600 aircraft.

Aeroflot is also interested in the B7E7 as B767/B777 replacement.
Boeing might change the B7E7's name into the B787. Because the number 8 is considered good luck in China, it might attract some chinese companies to buy the B7E7.

Then it will certainly be a great success like the A380 has in China...

I don't think Airbus has received any orders for A380's to China have they?OrientThai wrote:Aeroflot is also interested in the B7E7 as B767/B777 replacement.

I think Qatar would rather choose the A350 because they already operate an all-Airbus fleet, it would be more economical for them.bits44 wrote:Potential 7E7 jet order from Qatar may hit 60
Qatar Airways continues to have keen interest in Boeing's new 7E7 and is considering a 60-plane order, up from a possible 40-jet deal discussed earlier this year, a source stated.
Airbus hasn't sold any A380 in China so far...bits44 wrote:I don't think Airbus has received any orders for A380's to China have they?
