Interesting article today in De Standaard (Dutch) about Brussels Airlines wanting to 'expand':

https://www.standaard.be/cnt/dmf20220823_94114336

Unfortunately it stays very vague...

What SN needs is more long haul flights and destinations (Asia, South America, West Coast US,...). This is where profits can be made. Not another Southern European holiday destination...

Agree. You cannot convince UA or AC to open new destinations to BRU if the home carrier and partner is flying only to the Mediterranean.

More and new destinations in Africa and to start with the East Coast like BOS. But also looking to South America

Fuel shortage at Kinshasa

Brussels Airlines affected by fuel limitations in Kinshasa

Fuel supply limitations at Kinshasa airport are now imposed.

A flight (SN358) from Kinshasa to Brussels had to be canceled on Monday due to a fuel purchase limitation in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Belgian airline Brussels Airlines said on Tuesday. Just under 300 passengers were on board and non-residents had to be relocated to a hotel in Kinshasa. Brussels Airlines is looking for solutions to bring them back to Belgium, while the next flights between the Congolese capital and Zaventem are (almost) complete.

“This limitation of 35,000 litres/28 tonnes of kerosene per plane, imposed by local fuel suppliers on airlines, is currently in force until mid-September” , specifies the company again. Brussels Airlines is therefore working on a structural solution “to continue to guarantee its flights to and from the DRC” .

You have to be correct in this, Brussels will not be served during Winter while other European destinations are not started up due to the very strict covid messures

Flights from FIH to BRU will makes a fuel stop in BCN on days 1-3-4-5-7

I guess on day 2 and 6, the rotation will be BRU-FIH-LAD-BRU instead of BRU-LAD-FIH-BRU

For sure not an A380…
Sounds like google translate from an African newspaper.
What do you call a low pass over the runway?

It was a low pass over the runway at 1.000ft (don't know if that qualifies as 'low'):

Could you possibly give a brief summary of this article, it is behind a paywall? Or have the most things already been said in the discussion above?

Appears to be a rehash of a Belga release. Pro tip: Google the headline. When it is not original work, you are likely to find other web sites pushing a similar story, some for free. In this case, 2 of the first 3 search results had no paywall.

But to answer your other questions, I don't think there was anything new not confirming what was already discussed here. New investment/destinations coming, temp contracts turning full-time, more pilots to be hired.

Already 1.400 candidates applied for being a pilot at SN. This was never seen before. Candidates came from Belgium as abroad.
