Kenya Airways has often said that its patnership with KLM was not longer good for them with Air France and KLM that opened some African routes were KQ flies and thus i think many pax used Amsterdam and Paris inseard of Nairobi.

Air Astana (Kazakhstan's national airline) has cancelled all flights until 07 January 2022 due to lack of internet, which is necessary for engineering checks and recordings in preparation of aircraft for flight. Internet was cut by the regime to thwart civil unrest over the hike in gas prices.

French press announces that Air France has suspended all flights to Bamako (Malo) following ECOWAS ( Economic Community of West African States) embargo on Mali. AF currently operates two flights a day to Bamako via Banjul and depending period with terminator service to Abidjan (but i think it was replaced by the CDG-Banjul-Bamako tag service) or Monrovia (it's the case in 2022).

Mali boarders are close, so i guess that others airlines can't land in Mali.

Air France announces the suspension of its flights to Bamako

Pursuant to the embargo decided on Sunday January 9, 2022 by the countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) against Mali, Air France has suspended its flights to Bamako.

Mali to give airlines three days to confirm they will continue flights to the country or lose their landing slots, after several carriers suspended service in response to sanctions being imposed on the military-led government.

Luxair is looking at new aircraft to replace its DHC8 and B737 in 2024 or 2025. The carrier is mulling the E2, A220, B737 MAX and A320neo, and hopes the A220-500 will be built.

Almost full flight for the 1st flight on an A330-300. SV announce the first flight via a Facebook post less than 2 weeks ago :o

Saudi Airlines launches direct flights to Uganda

Saudi Arabian carrier, Saudi Airlines, on Wednesday commenced direct flights from Riyadh to Uganda’s Entebbe International Airport.

The inaugural flight arrived in Entebbe at 7am with about 300 passengers aboard an Airbus 330-300, according to the airline, and was welcomed with a traditional gun salute.

https://www.theeastafrican.co.ke/tea/bu ... da-3703070

The Middle East-East Africa capacities must surely be one of the largest in the world (classifying by region). I don't know if Saudi and Air Arabia have plans to serve Tanzania and Rwanda. But it's quite impressive. There is a lot of point-to-point but also a lot of connecting either intra airlibes or via code shares or interlines.

I wonder if we are not almost at the same level as Europe-East Africa flights (and there are still a lot of Russian, Ukrainian, Polish charters on Kenya and Tanzania) and surely above the above the East African -Rest of Africa capacaties (and they are Ethiopian, Kenya Airways and RwandAir).

French and German pressure may force IAG to spin off British Airways

IAG could be forced to spin off British Airways as Germany and France might push to reinstate EU ownership rules. Suspended post-Brexit, the regulation is still at the centre of talks between the UK and the EU but has yet to be finalised.

Spain, Ireland and Hungary would support the scrapping of ownership rules, France and Germany could put up a fight, in an attempt to gain a market advantage over BA.

IAG could get away with it if it demerged a part of BA. The company could consider demerging its non-EU business of British Airways into a separate non-EU owned company, leaving the legacy business EU owned.

Just saw a BAF F-16 flying at rather low level during return to KeeBee.

If the data from globe.adsbexchange.com are correct, it's 1000ft and 454kts.

As you can see in your screenshot, the source is MLAT (Multilateration) which can be totally unreliable as far as speed goes. If the trajectory is fairly stable (and high enough for MLAT to properly work) and you monitor the flight a couple of minutes, you'll get a good impression of the average of the speeds shown, and if that is pretty stable, then you have a more or less reliable indication of its true groundspeed.
But with unreliable MLAT you sometimes see small GA planes doing F16 like speeds (often a zigzagging trajectory, even with some parts missing, is a good indication of unreliable MLAT for trajectory and speed).

Here is a good example of an F16 with its MLAT speeds doing unrealistic up and down jumps

Agreed Dibo, MLAT has its limitations. There was a tongue-in-cheek in my reference to the reliability of the data.
I stumbled on it when I saw this bird near Waremme at 1300ft 300fpm ROD and 474kt. That would have attracted some attention and be in the press by now. ;)

Why? There’s nothing wrong with an F16 flying a low level navigation, happens on a daily basis.
People running to their computers after they saw an F16, jumping to conclusions and pretending it was tongue in cheek when their bullsh!t got called on the other hand....

Indigo and Spicejet are also doing this, only Vistara is not participating.

Nigerian carriers Air Peace and Max Jet have been operating repat charters too.

Air Senegal is eyeing Martinique with the possibility of serving Fort de France from Dakar

The establishment of an air service between Martinique and Senegal is becoming clearer

Launched two years ago, after initial exchanges in Senegal, the project to set up an air service between Fort-de-France and Dakar could see the light of day soon.

https://la1ere-francetvinfo-fr.translat ... r_pto=wapp

In the footsteps of TAAG Angola Airlines which serves Cuba, and Air Peace (Nigeria) which serves Jamaica via Ghana, during certain periods (there were flights in 2020 and 2021)

https://www.google.com/search?client=fi ... ce+jamaica

The slave trade dispersed Africans all over this region. More and more people are researching their roots. In Rwanda there is a small Jamaican and Bahamian community..

It mainly concerns African Americans. It is difficult to know the number if there is a market (i have doubt for the moment). The African Diaspora is so fragmented.

Maybe we will have to wait for the continent to develop more before seeing this kind of routes carrying mainly black people who return to the Continent and black people wanted to maje memorial tourism. Many African countries are trying to attract these people

TACV will lease a B737-700 from Angola Airlines. It is planned to fly to Lisbon tomorrow. https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/d2-tbf

Royal Air Maroc preparing tender for Boeing 737 replacement

Royal Air Maroc is preparing to add new aircraft in the future. The airline is looking to launch a tender to find a replacement for its existing 737 fleet.

Its fleet currently consists of almost 40 Boeing 737, all but two being 737 NG. Due to the pandemic, only 27 Boeing 737-800 and one 737 Max 8 are active at the moment. Royal Air Maroc was originally due to receive four Boeing 737 Max 8, but the company decided to cancel two of them. It no longer has any outstanding aircraft orders.
