Yes some flights made huge detours, also cancelations in some airports such as at ABidjan

Many AF flights to Africa canceled today as saturday is their busiest day of the week with all Sub-Saharan Africa flights operated

Air traffic controllers strike in Central and West Africa and their replacement by unqualified people.

The strike has been suspended now. For how long?

Not usual to see a Jet2 flight in Brussels. This flight LS984 from Bodrum to Manchester was diverted to Brussels after a medical emergency. But why did it remain so long in Brussels? Crew duty time limitations?

This morning Surinam flight SLM994 diverted from EHAM to EBBR after quite some holding over the Netherlands, more than likely weather related.

To answer my own question, the delay was due to the fact that the medical diversion was related to one of the pilots feeling unwell, thus needing to be replaced by another pilot to be flown in from the UK.

From The Aviation Herald: A Lufthansa Airbus A350-900, registration D-AIXE performing flight LH-575 from Cape Town (South Africa) to Munich (Germany) with 286 passengers and 13 crew, was en route at FL380 about 10nm southwest of Luanda (Angola) when the crew initiated a descent to FL340. Shortly after levelling off at FL340, now about 80nm north-northwest of Luanda, the crew initiated a drift down to FL200 due to problems with the left-hand engine (Trent XWB) and decided to divert to Luanda and burn off fuel
