YYZ with AC will be in June '23
Today in Montréal, AC officially announced (re)lauch date of the route between YYZ and BRU starting June 1st (from YYZ). This service will be with a Boeing 787. The service will take place all year round.

Frequency will be 5x/week with flight:
  • From YYZ dep: 18:20, day 2-3-4-6-7, arr 07:45+1.
From BRU dep: 12:25, day 1-3-4-5-7, arr 12:25.
Finally!

I hope in 2023 there are going to be many new (intercontinental) routes. Might some Asian destinations come back?

I also hope that SN will be part of the growth. A strong home carrier is necessary, also for their African connections. Boston? More African destinations? Back to Mumbai (probably not)?

I hope also SN will expand, an airport that I admire in getting routes launched even if seasonal it’s ATH I hope BRU takes some ideas from their route development team. Great that YYZ will be year round!

In the Brussels Airlines booking engine you can already see 2 new destinations.

-Zurich (to avoid Swiss to have a nightstop in BRU)
-Warsaw is coming back to feed the network.

Other destination, new and "old" one are will be announced soon.

Great that those destinations will be back. Zurich as feeder flight and business.
Warsaw is also an important destination as a lot of diplomats and political persons are travelling with LOT to BRU. But people use them also to travel deeper into Eastern Europe. SN could take again a part of it. Lot is taking advantage now by having high prices on this route. When they were flying both and multiple times a day, prices were much lower.

Good moves SN

Good moves SN
It’s just replacing SR metal by SN metal, on one rotation, to save the costs of a night stopping crew. The opposite is already happening for GVA.
Good move in terms of cost saving, but no spectacular new route news.

They do already, don't they?
I've seen Hainan twice or three times in the morning last week and ANA has like one or two pax flights a week and some cargo dedicated aswell. But I'm not sure of the frequency of all these flights, it's only what I saw on the apron during work.
I would still bet on SQ though...

ANA has almost completely stopped their ops on BRU for the winter season. They will be flying some days though (e.g. december 24).
Cargo flights stopped last month. No Idea if these will ever return.

ANA stopped temporary their ops to BRU such as many other destinations. This due to the strict Covid rules in Japan.
ANA did, also on a temporary basis, cargo flights to BRU. For the moment there are no cargo flights. It can be ad hoc, but in general they will not return (cargo)

No, HKG still has some restrictions! Japan is fully open.
BRU was most likely not their most lucrative route… I guess it will take a while before they come back.

Hi everybody,

I was able to have a little conversation with a member of Aviation Development Team of Brussels Airport. The questions i asked him :

▪New routes with Brussels Airlines or Air Belgium to US, Canada, Africa and maybe South America ?
▪New transatlantic low cost airlines like Jetblue, Westjet or Norse ?
▪Maybe new routes to Houston and San Francisco with United Airlines ?
▪Come back of American with non stop service to Philadelphia ?
▪Is the CBP project still on the agenda of Brussels Airport ?
▪Come back in the future of Cathay Pacific to Hong Kong ? More flights of Hainan to Beijing and Shenzhen, and ANA to Tokyo ?
▪And finally can Royal Jordanian resumes flights to Amman instead of Ryanair ?

Here is the short answer : Most of your questions are actually under discussion between our teams and partners. I can't tell you more. Stay tuned

For Brussels Airlines, we can already see Djerba, Monastir, Brindisi, Zurich and Warsaw as "new" destination, I know two other one more business oriented wich will start, one of them was there before the covid crisis and the other one is a new one for SN even if it was alreaydy a code share on another airline. I'd like to say more but unfortunately, as it's not yet in the booking engine and there is no official annoucement yet, I can't. For long haul, there should be normally no expansion this year.

For Air Belgium, I do not know the plan but regarding L'Echo the liquidity of AB just allow them to fly the winter sheduled if they can't find other European investment.
