ValueJet has received its AOC from the Nigerian CAA and expects to begin commercial operations soon.

CMA-CGM Air Cargo : : CMA CGM Air Cargo has this month launched a five-times weekly, non-stop 777 freighter service between Paris-CDG and Hong Kong. It is the first step in the airline’s move to transfer its hub, and six-strong freighter fleet, from Liege Airport in Belgium to the French air gateway within the framework of a 10-year partnership with Air France-KLM Cargo.

Lakwin Aviation obtained its AOC from the CAA of Sri Lanka to provide domestic commercial civil passenger and cargo transport services after fulfilling the necessary requirements.

Crown Airlines is a new airline based in Tripoli (Libya). The delivery of its first A320, MSN 4023, on lease from Avolon will arrive soon.

AB Airlines of Congo (no relation with Air Belgium!) took delivery of one B737-500, MSN 25183, on a one-year wet lease from Africa Charter Airline (South Africa). The Congolese carrier is also looking to acquire one B737-700. AB acquired its AOC in August 2022.

Air Astra has received the AOC from the CAA of Bangladesh and is all set to begin commercial flight operations.

Valletta Airlines of Malta was launched as an A320 and A330 global charter and ACMI operator and plans to start in early 2023, targeting the Americas, the Middle East and North Africa, and Far East Asia. The AOC is pending, and the initial fleet with consist of one A320, growing to three A320s and two A330-200s by 2023 end.

Lorizon Aircraft is a new French private airline managed by investor Maxime Ray. It has acquired two ERJ135s which will operate out of Lorient-Bretagne-Sud airport to Inverness. By 2023, the carrier plans to serve Paris, Toulon and Lyon.

UK start-up Fly Atlantic, which plans to launch operations as an LLC in 2Q 2024 out of Belfast, aims to begin with six aircraft to 35 destinations within Europe and to North America. It plans to grow to a fleet of 18 aircraft by 2028, with the B737 MAX or A321neo as the preferred choice.

Air Samarkand plans to launch operations from Samarkand, Uzbekistan, to many destinations in Europe, Asia and Russia, with Airbus A320 and A330 aircraft.

Air Tashkent has secured its Uzbekistan AOC and has acquired an A330, ahead of its launch.

Also a new cargo airline called My Frieghter, it will operate a single 747-200F to begin with.

Air Moana of French Polynesia was granted an operating license, allowing the carrier to begin operations from mid-January 2023 to eight islands from Tahiti with two leased ATR72-600s. The fleet will increase to three aircraft by 2025.

Nordic Aviation Group announces a new partnership with Marabu, to support the new carrier with the launch of the AOC and provide ACMI services to the new airline utilising three A320neo. Marabu plans to launch direct routes from Hamburg and Munich for the summer season 2023. Marabu’s CEO is Paul Schwaiger.

Rano Air obtains full government approval to begin operations in Nigeria. It will launch domestic flights soon with four ERJ145s.

FLYONE Romania has obtained its AOC, but still awaits its operating license. It will launch with one A320, registration YR-FIA.

Quikjet Cargo Airlines of India has obtained its AOC and could soon begin scheduled freighter operations — including with an Amazon-branded B737-800BCF.

Air Moana of French Polynesia took delivery of its first aircraft, a leased ATR72-600C, MSN 1301, with a second ATR due soon. The first flights should be operated in mid-February 2023.

Sky Vision Airlines of Egypt has acquired its AOC, the last of the licenses needed to start operations.

Air Bora Bora of French Polynesia has obtained its air carrier license, with plans to serve the Leeward Islands from Bora Bora, and revive the air shuttle between Tahiti and Moorea. It will use a fleet of two DHC6s, and later Q400s.

Textron Aviation announced that Aerus (Mexico) is launching its fleet with the purchase of two 19-passenger configured Cessna SkyCourier turboprops and four Cessna Grand Caravan EX turboprops. The new regional airline recently took delivery of the first three Grand Caravan EX aircraft.
