Qantas expects to get back to flying 100% of its pre-COVID-19 domestic capacity by January 2022 as Australian state borders open up.

Singapore Airlines has announced the resumption of its three-times-weekly flights from Houston to Singapore, via Manchester, starting on 01 December 2021, with A350-900.

Morocco’s government has decided to suspend flights to and from Germany, the UK, and the Netherlands. The measure will be in effect until further notice.

AirAsia Philippines to rehire laid-off employees, with the increasing resumption of travel and utilisation of aircraft.

AirBaltic plans to take a financial hit as the government will impose a new month-long lockdown in the country, despite travel restrictions being unaffected.

Airbus has rebuffed calls by aircraft leasing companies to temper plans to almost double production of its A320 jetliner family, telling them its ambitions are justified by expectations for post-pandemic demand.

Lufthansa chief executive Carsten Spohr says business air travel is recovering faster than expected and should remain solid through the winter 2021/22.

SAS has summoned its workers’ largest unions to negotiations as part of the airline’s efforts to cut costs and increase flexibility in its pandemic-hit business.

India’s Centre is looking forward to Indian airlines purchasing and leasing many more widebodied aircraft once the Indian aviation sector recuperates from the crisis.

Air France, Corsair and Air Caraïbes (based in Guadeloupe) appeal to the French government for the extension of state aid as well as for a moratorium on loan repayments and airport tax increases.

British Airways has announced the resumption of its direct services between London and Buenos Aires, starting 01 December 2021, with A350.

The German government has cautiously responded to the request of BER Airport for more funds, as the current liquidity will only last until 1Q 2022.

Air Canada to start converting its A330 and B777 preighters back into passenger aircraft from 1Q 2022, while the freighters on order will begin delivering by end of 2021.

Kuwait Airways is in talks with Airbus to amend a previous aircraft order as the carrier did not take any financial aid from the government during the pandemic.

KLM accrued even more debt from the government during the pandemic than known to date. In addition to €3.35 billion in loans and guarantees, the airline also received a tax deferral of €1.35 billion.

Britain must bring back pre-pandemic rules on airport slots now, London Gatwick Airport and Wizz Air said in a letter to the government.

Deutsche Lufthansa repaid or cancelled all remaining government Stabilisation funds from the Federal Republic of Germany. The repayment was made much earlier than originally planned.

ANA All Nippon Airways has urged Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s administration to relax travel restrictions for foreign tourists to Japan. ANA is also seeking to revive domestic travel subsidies to assist the travel industry.

Austria to impose lockdown, mandatory jabs in EU first

Austria announced on Friday that it will impose a lockdown for all and make vaccinations mandatory, becoming the first EU country to take such stringent measures as coronavirus cases spiral.

Air New Zealand cancels more than 1000 flights through to the end of December 2021 due to continued border uncertainty between New Zealand and Australia.

IAG said its transatlantic bookings had already reached nearly 100% of 2019 levels after the US dropped restrictions earlier this month.

Aircalin of New Caledonia to resume international flights as the government lifted the suspension earlier than planned on 01 December 2021.

Japan Airlines and ANA All Nippon Airways halted new reservations for international flights to Japan until the end of December 2021 and the government widened a travel ban amid escalating alarm over the new variant.

India will resume international passenger flights from mid-December 2021 with COVID-19 linked curbs for “at risk” countries, and ordered tightened screening at borders as fears over a new coronavirus variant.

Cathay Pacific has been hit by a wave of pilot resignations in recent weeks as resentment over Hong Kong’s strict quarantine regime boils over and crew scramble for emerging opportunities overseas. The carrier plans to hire more pilots as a result.

Cathay Pacific says it had 68 aircraft parked at the end-October 2021, down from 89 at end-June 2021 with planes taken out of storage to support its cargo business.

EgyptAir announced the suspension of its flights to and from Toronto due to health scare, starting from 02 December 2021, until further notice.
