F-104 will visit KB for the last time

Hello everybody,

Received this e-mail via DSML :

"Dear aviation enthusiast,

As a former F104 Starfighter Air Base and to emphasize the good relationship with the local communities, the Kleine Brogel 10th Tactical Wing is building a Belgian Air Force F-104 as a monument on an important roundabout in the nearby town Peer.

Prior to the official ceremony which will take place in mid-November, we have pleasure to organize an unformal BE Starfighter-pilots gathering at Kleine Brogel AB on Wednesday 27 October, including a confirmed fly by & landing of 2 F104s coming from the 10th Sqn at Grazzanise, Italy.

Again, what a nice stunt from KB's organization team...a couple of days before the F104's final phasing out !!

Please take note of ItAF's flight schedule:
- 27 October: Fly by's at 2:00 PM & landing at 2:30 PM
- 28 October: Departure (afternoon)

In consultation with our Headquarters in Brussels, we are working out spotters facilities on 27 October, which will be announced ASAP. We keep you posted through our website http://www.mil.be/aircomp

That is a nice bye-bye for this wonderfull fighter aircraft, to bad that I can't be there to wath the F-104's flying for one of the last times. So long to the (Italian) Starfighters.

Btw, I think that the most beautiful colour scheme was the Belgium camouflage colour scheme:

Very nice pictures from all of you.

Let's hope some enthousiast will keep one or more Starfighters in the air to fly displays at the airshows.
