Despite a “reassuring” press release mid January, Germania was unable to pay the January salaries.

The German employees of Germania are calling in sick because they are not paid. For those of you who understand German:

Strong rumours about bankruptcy tomorrow, unfortunately...

And now confirmed by the airline: https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/germ ... te-effect/
Re: Germania wobbling?
Exactly the kind of day you should stay at bed. Germania was my previous airlines before I join Brussels Airlines and I still know a lot of people there, now workless.
By the way a lot of people from Malev were working for Germania, this is now for them a second bankrupty.

Re: Germania wobbling?
Pity to see that sympathetic airline disappear. The Lufthansa monopoly over Germany is increasing further. Here is Germania's last flight:

Re: Germania wobbling?
Stranded passengers who have paid their ticket by credit card, can ask a refund via a chargeback request with the issuer of their credit card and/or their bank. Not via Germania of course.
Passengers who have booked a travel package with Germania flights via a travel agent or touroperator will get a rerouting with other flights, paid for by the travel agent or touroperator.
Other passengers, unfortunately, will not be able to recover their payment. A request to the liquidators will not be granted, but it will help the liquidators to establish how big the bankruptcy is.

Re: Germania wobbling?
In the context of the insolvency of German airline Germania, please find below a comment from Scope Ratings airlines analyst Sebastian Zank:
“The collapse of Germania, an airline which has struggled to compete with bigger rivals for some time, shows again that to survive in Europe’s crowded sector, carriers need to be niche players or have an extensive network as is the case with budget leader Ryanair and multi-brand operators like Lufthansa Group and IAG.”

Re: Germania wobbling?
The Germania demise also affects Airbus: the airline was flying the twice-daily shuttle between the two main Airbus plants Hamburg Finkenwerder (XFW/EDHI) and Toulouse (TLS/LFBO). Flight numbers were ST1881/2 and ST2885/6, both operated by A319. These were the only scheduled charters operating from XFW.
Airbus will have to look for a new contractor.
