Well, Richard Branson says many things. But if Burt Rutan is involved, it might very well be serious. One thing is for sure: I won´t be among those 3000 passengers...

I wonder how many trip reports we´ll get :-) Any luchtzak members prepared to spend 169,000 euros on a space trip?
Oh of course, Mr Ryanair will probably start another company to compete with Virgin: "10,000 seats to the Moon for £0.99! (one way excluding taxes)"

Virgin Galactic is planning to build a fleet of Spaceship Two’s. SpaceshipTwo (SS2) is a lot larger then SpaceshipOne (SS1); it will be able to hold 6 passengers and 2 pilots. ; It will be a scaled up version of the SS1. After the new hybrid-engines are fired, the SS2 will climb to an altitude of 140k, where the passengers will have 5 minutes time to "float" around....then they'll have to hurry back to their seats, as they will be exposed to 7G forces while the SS2 is slowing down in the atmosphere....

I think I'll stick to trips with the 7x7's and A3xx's of this world...
I must say the £0.99 sounds attractive, though I have a small worry about the 'one way' clause...

With Ryanair, I would be more worried about an 'oxygen available for an additional fee' clause...

That doesn't sound like it will be anything popular. Paying 169000 Euro for a 90 sec. trip... It also doesn't sound very safe... I'm doubting if it will actually ever exist.

It's 90 minutes, not 90 seconds.

A lot of time has passed since the above announcements. Now the Virgin Galactic has made its first flights, and recently it has gone supersonic.

Watch the stunning pictures and videos in the link hereunder:
