BRU A380-ready in December: press briefing about the A380
According to an article in "Het Nieuwsblad" Brussels Airport will be A380 ready in December of this year, also according to the same article no contract has been signed yet to use the A380 but EK seems interested. Brussels Airport refuses to comment but they say that they'll make an announcement today.

Re: BRU A380 ready in december, press briefing today about the A380?
To be honest, the only airline I see serving BRU with an A380 in the next 10-20 years is EK...

Yes, but I assume that when there is no A380, it can be used for smaller planes as well ...

And it gets more interesting for other airlines to count BRU as a real alternate airport for AMS or CDG. So when they are closed for some reason we might see some more of them.
Re: BRU A380 ready in december, press briefing today about the A380?
Some journalists really can't wait for the official news. They want a scoop and write only wild guesses. With a little bit of patience, they would have gotten the correct information! (And incidentally, the A380 is not "grootste vliegtuig ter wereld", Mr Nieuwsblad. It's the An-225 Mriya).Bralo20 wrote: 11 Oct 2017, 08:35 According to an article in "Het Nieuwsblad" Brussels Airport will be A380 ready in December of this year, also according to the same article no contract has been signed yet to use the A380 but EK seems interested. I also contacted BAC during the weekend. They told me on Monday that no airline had yet requested A380 gates. And that they would officially communicate later during the week.

except frequency is a lot more usefull than bigger planes
more harm than good i'd say, unless you get both

My messages reflect my personal opinion which may be different than yours. I beleive a forum is made to create a debate so I encourage people to express themselves, the way they want, with the ideas they want. I expect the same understanding in return.

And now: back to the A380 discussion?
Might be better to post the link to the thread where you guys discuss about the credibility of this forum.

Re: BRU A380 ready in december, press briefing today about the A380?
My personal bet is that EK will commence A380 operations on one of its daily flights as from S18.
Best regards,
Ivan

And now the full information is here: https://www.aviation24.be/airports/bruss ... idge-a380/
It includes much more than just an A380 triple bridge!

But it's takes 5 years to do so......
Hasta la victoria siempre.
Re: BRU A380 ready in december, press briefing today about the A380?
I know there are none now, but why only one? If that one A380-gate has an issue, that's a problem for an A380. If there should ever be more than one A380 (one scheduled + one diversion?), that's a problem too, and if EK decides to schedule an A380, it limits the possibility for another airline in the future to schedule A380 too... I don't want to sound too grotesque, but as this has to be future-proof, why not make two A380-capable gates?

PttU, if you read the press release of Brussels Airport carefully, than you can read that there will be 2 tripple airbridges.PttU wrote: 11 Oct 2017, 17:44 I know there are none now, but why only one? Those will be at gate 31 and 33.
Re: BRU A380 ready in december, press briefing today about the A380?
No word about possible extension of A to the West.
A few new gates there would help maintain capacity during the replacement of the 22 gates on pier B, wouldn't it?

Re: BRU A380 ready in december, press briefing today about the A380?
A crazy guess could also be SQ, some reasons why:
- Seemingly Brussels Airport is not talking to EK
- No direct connection to Singapore
- Cargo moving to Brussels, so probably also more administration
- 'Massive' advertising campaign in train stations in Flanders right now:
"Singapore, de gateway tot een geweldige vakantie
Vanaf Brussel naar Singapore en door naar meer dan 80 steden in Azië, Australië en Nieuw-Zeeland
Boek nu vanaf €609 retour"
- Since the 1st of October, Singapore Airlines & Lufthansa Group strengthened their cooperation.

There was no need to speak about the extension of Pier A bcs this was already decided and communicated long time ago.
Everything is ongoing now regarding tenders, architecture, etc etc.

Thank you Atlantis.
You're certainly right but I think today's announcement was a good opportunity to remind it, as many people, like me
, do not remember exactly where this project stands in terms of timing and when it will be completed.
The BRU infrastucture topic has 48 pages!

Re: BRU A380 ready in december, press briefing today about the A380?
Atlantis, that is not what I understand. The one new triple boarding bridge will be built on the current location of gates 31 and 33. Look at the picture: a triple boarding bridge takes much more place than a single or a double one.Atlantis wrote: 11 Oct 2017, 18:14PttU, if you read the press release of Brussels Airport carefully, than you can read that there will be 2 tripple airbridges.PttU wrote: 11 Oct 2017, 17:44 I know there are none now, but why only one?
