This last Friday (06 March 2020), late afternoon.
The A330 is mostly used for commercial flights to Europe.
Is it an A330 of LATAM ? Do not know as TAP has a huge maintenance hangar at GIG Airport that provides services for LATAM, TAP, GOL, AVIANCA, LH, AA, TAGG, etc..

"beyond 180 min" ? No more precision ? 180 min seems not so big achievement to me ..

I'm not a specialist, but I believe "beyond 180 min" is the official terminology used for the general 'type approval' part of ETOPS - and then includes optional further certification limits upon requirements & operator (e.g. in case of the A330-800 they talk about the option of ETOPS 285 min. In comparison, back in 2014 before EIS the A350 was hyped as approved for ETOPS 370 min, but that was officially also approved for 'beyond 180 min' with the option of up to ETOPS 370 min based on EASA communication).

Thankyou for your precision. I wonder if KU, the launch customer, will take delivery of the first batch as planned (Q3 2020). Given the dire context, I expect a minima a delay (a maxima a cancellation ?). Lets cross fingers.
I expect the -800 fully meets specs (or maybe exceeds them ?) regarding fuel efficiency, I wonder though how it performs on shorter flight missions (in the 3 to 4 h bracket), which are common usage in Asia ? There certainly is a niche for such aircrafts tailored for long thin routes, probably more so in the coming years. Let's hope this aircraft (with its sibling the -900 version) can eventually compete with the ubiquitous 787-8/9. Airbus is at crossroads regarding this program.

That's 1,500 A330s delivered!

Since its maiden flight in 1992, Airbus' first long-range aircraft has never stopped advancing - making it the most popular widebody, flying with 120+ operators. Airbus delivered one A330 per week since the first delivery in 1993!

Note: It looks like Airbus was overly optimistic there: Boeing has delivered 1,641 widebody 777s since the first delivery in 1994.

A330 is not a competitor of the B777. A330, was an upgrade of the A300 / A310 family to compete, the B767.

The A340 was the competitor of the B777. The B777 has "killed" both A340s and MD11s

A340-200 / 300 = B777-200 / B777-200ER
A340-500: B777-200LR
A340-600: B777-300 / 300ER

And if we compare B767 and A330

1,190 B767s delivered, since September 8, 1982: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_767
1,501 A330s delivered, since 17 January 1994: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airbus_A330

Starting, early 2000s, some airlines started to replace, their B767s, by A330s (Air France or KLM ). Boeing has tried to react with the B767-400. Finally, they have started the B787-8s / B787-9s. The B787-10s, is probably to replace, the B777-200ER
