German public sector strike might affect flights on 27/03

Post by sn26567 »

Public sector strikes on Thursday, March 27

Due to a public sector strike across Germany on Thursday, March 27, major disruptions and flight cancellations are also expected at Frankfurt Airport.

Before traveling to the airport, we recommend that passengers check the status of their flight on their airline’s website and take advantage of online rebooking options.

Passengers, whose flight has not been cancelled in advance, are advised to allow extra time for their journey to the airport on Thursday and to check in as early as possible, since we expect longer waiting times during the strike.

Passengers, whose flight has been cancelled without any rebooking options, are kindly requested to refrain from coming to the airport.

And some flights from Brussels Airport will indeed be affected by the strike.

The morning flights of Lufthansa to Frankfurt and Munich will be cancelled.

Lufthansa passengers flying from Brussels Airport tomorrow morning are invited to contact their travel agent or the Lufthansa call centre.

Where is the forummember who was complaining about a pilot strike? How bizar, the whole country suddenly has the right to strike and all of them do not need to look for an other job? Strange isnt it.

Just to add / correct some facts:
(1) it is a warning strike while negotiations for the public sector are ongoing
(2) those warning strikes are taking place for about two weeks now: one day it is the public transport in some towns, next day it is the kindergardens somewhere else and so on; now it was the public sector employees at some airports today (and many ex-public sector employees in now privatized companies are still covered by those collective agreements and therefore participate in tje warning strikes as well ...
(3) now my interpretation: as nobody really cares that much if busses, administration or kindergardens are closed for half a day the unions needed something which will be covered by national tv news for two days - so they choose the airports ...
