Seems like the're a political row in the making between Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain on one side and Qatar on the other side over political and financial support to Syrian and Egyption rebel fractions.
Qatar doesn't want to support the new Egyptian military government and still recognizes deposed Muslim Brotherhood leader Mursi as legitimate Egyptian President, while in Syria Qatar backs also extremist rebel groups fighting the Assad regime.
After recalling their ambassadors from Doha, the next step now seems to be to cripple the national airline of Qatar be revoking their overflight rights: http://deredactie.be/cm/vrtnieuws/buitenland/1.1902364
I suppose that especially not being able to overfly Saudi Arabia will pose quite some problems to Qatar, if indeed the measure is imposed?
Qatar to lose overflight rights in Saudi Arabia (and others)

It will pose a problem for QR and add time to schedules depending on which way they are going.
Not sure if cripple comes into it but on some ULR flights it might make a big difference

I think is most problematic for the flights to Africa and the GRU/EZE flight.
