SN3182 june 29 aborted take-off

Post by Kris »

We were on this flight yesterday ( FCO to BRU ),due to take off at 17h to the west at FCO. After about 10-15 seconds of acceleration the take-off was aborted using full brakes. It was a pretty violent stop and aircraft was shaking heavily before stopping on the runway. Stayed for about 8 minutes or so on the runway. We were all thinking that it was something technical, but then the captain announced that they had to use the brakes like this due to wind. We then went to another runway with headwind and took off about 30 minutes. Pretty strange experience.

It was very windy in the Rome area, we could also see some dust twisters from the aircraft window. I think wind was coming from the north and we were taking off to the west.
