OLT Express Germany ceases operations

Post by sn26567 »

OLT has ceased operations after reorganisation talks with its parent company, Panta Holdings, failed.

OLT had already announced a number cuts to its route and fleet in December last year. It is thought the airline and it parent company could not agree on a plan to restore the carrier to financial health.

Founded in 1958, OLT operated 15 aircraft (10 Fokker 100, 3 Saab 2000 and 1 Saab 340A with an average age of 19.2 years) on routes within Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark and France, according to the German news source, Die Welt.

And bmi Regional is very quick to pick up one of the routes in continental Europe, between Bremen and Toulouse. The first time it operates a route out of the UK. Congratulations for daring to take such a risk!

From Airline Route:

bmi Regional from 04MAR13 is introducing new service between France and Germany, operating weekdays service on Bremen – Toulouse with Embraer ERJ145 aircraft. Reservation for this route is now open.

Code: Select all

BM1781 BRE0730 – 0935TLS ER4 x67
BM1782 TLS1645 – 1845BRE ER4 x67
From ch-aviation:

Germania had previously also publicly shown interest in taking over the route which has mainly been served by OLT because of demand by EADS and its suppliers. bmi regional had just recently announced a new route from Birmingham International (BHX) to Toulouse and also already operates some corporate shuttle flights on behalf of EADS.
