Still alive. This time with 52 planes, 7 long haul, 2.750-2.950 staff, 85% of AL's slots at LIN and 43% at FCO. In theory, rising to 105 planes, 23 long haul and 5.550-5.700 staff in 2025.

Airbus is the favourite to win a €4.5 billion tender for 81 new generation planes for the successor of Italy’s bankrupt Alitalia. Who will pay for all those new planes?

All flights between LIN and the UK will stop from 31/10/2021. LIN is only permitted to handle flights within the EU so post-Brexit...
This will affect AI and BA to LCY and LHR also U2 to LGW

Hi, I've been trying to search the news for confirmation of this, but I can't find anything. Would you mind posting a link to where this information can be found ? Thanks

Not yet decided, but likely.

In the meantime, ITA has acquired its first aeroplane: an Alitalia A330, leased from Aircraft Purchase Company.

The Delrio decree, from 2016, only allows intra-EU flights to/from Linate. Lin-UK flights should have stopped on 1st January, but due to Covid an extension was granted until the end of the IATA summer season.
Lobbying is ongoing to modify or suspend the decree to allow LIN-UK flights in the future.

So, we won't need to find a new motto for the new company and can continue to use the good old "Always Late In Take-off, Always......." :) ;)

If they succeed to do so the EU has no advantage anymore!
I hope it will not be possible or the UK will win on all battles!

If ITA, Alitalia or whatever they are called these days think they can make money on the route the exemption will, probably, be granted and British airlines will automatically obtain reciprocal rights.
Some things never change...

ITA – Italia Trasporto Aereo - was issued its AOC and Air Transport Operating License by ENAC, as the carrier nears operations in mid-October 2021 with one A320 and one A330-200 already delivered.

Alitalia shuts down on 14th October. Tickets can be refunded. Italy’s Corriere della Sera newspaper estimated that some 255,000 people have tickets booked with Alitalia after that date.
The next day, a totally new company ITA, will start flying. Given that the European Commission has imposed the "discontinuity" between the activity of the two carriers, it will not be possible to proceed with automatic re-routing between the two companies.
ITA have just started recruiting the 2,800 staff they will need to start with, they are accepting online CV's. The board of directors of ITA meanwhile made a binding offer to buy 52 of Alitalia’s aircraft, as well as airport slots and other assets.
The unions of Alitalia are demanding that all 11,000 former employees to be employed by ITA. They plan to strike on 24th September.

According to my information, ITA Italia Trasporto Aereo is preparing to spend at least €6.5 million per month for the lease of the 52 aircraft currently used by Alitalia and which will be part of the initial fleet of the new national airline.

I used part of your post in my article: https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/alit ... h-flights/

"ITA will equip itself with a modern and environmental-friendly fleet that will include leading-edge technologies which will optimize efficiency and quality of service and significantly reduce the environmental impact. At the beginning of operations, ITA will operate a fleet of 52 aircraft, including 7 wide-bodies and 45 narrow-bodies aircraft. In 2022 the fleet will rise to 78 aircraft (+26 vs 2021), including 13 wide-bodies (+6 vs 2021) and 65 narrow-bodies (+20 vs 2021). From 2022, new-generation aircraft will gradually join the fleet replacing old technology aircraft. At the end of 2025 the fleet will rise to 105 aircraft (23 wide-bodies and 82 narrow-bodies), with 81 new-generation aircraft (77% of the entire fleet)."

It looks like they're planning well ahead. Have they already announced the date of their next bankruptcy?

About 10 thousand job applications have reached ITA to date. Of these 10,000 applications, about 15% have come from Alitalia workers.
The unions have said the new contracts offered by ITA are worse than those offered by LCCs
