Re: SN brings party people to Tomorrowland
Great initiative for a festival which has become a worldwide reference in "DanceLand" and clever marketing by SN to promote its product with younger people.
According to De Morgen, the flight from BCN offered a (live?) DJ Set on board.
Charters flights from/to 15 European destinations and (but guess that's a mistake) NY ?

I don't see any extra SN flight from JFK but they probably sold part of the plane together with Tomorrowland tickets.capetown wrote:Great initiative for a festival which has become a worldwide reference in "DanceLand" and clever marketing by SN to promote its product with younger people.

This was indeed the case, as confirmed by someone of Tomorrowland on the radio news this morning.Bralo20 wrote:I don't see any extra SN flight from JFK but they probably sold part of the plane together with Tomorrowland tickets.capetown wrote:Great initiative for a festival which has become a worldwide reference in "DanceLand" and clever marketing by SN to promote its product with younger people.

Re: SN brings party people to Tomorrowland
SN is not only the official party airline of the dance festival operating a series of charter flights to bring in party people, but the airline also sponsors the main off stage attraction: the eye catching 60 meters high "Brussels Airlines Cloud Rider".
Thanks to Brussels Airlines, all festival visitors will be able to check out the festival from the sky too: upon registration for this attraction, 'passengers' will not only get a boarding card which offers a free ride on the Brussels Airlines Cloud Rider, but also includes a promocode offering a discount on the very next Brussels Airlines flight. Some lucky passengers will even win a year of free travel on Brussels Airlines.

Re: SN brings party people to Tomorrowland
In 'De Standaard' today, Geert Sciot mentioned 140 people were on the JFK flight, but over 2500 people were interested ('20 keer zoveel geinteresseerden').
If they have the metal, I guess next year there will be a JFK charter for TML

Brussels Airlines has a fantastic coverage in Flemish media, including television:
VTM - commercial television - 2 minutes in the main news:
http://nieuws.vtm.be/entertainment/2012 ... morrowland
ATV - regional television Antwerp - very short interview with a party beast coming over from Australia just for Tomorrowland:

VRT - public broadcaster - 2 minutes in the main news (edited: apparently limited to Flemish region only)

On MTV USA you'll find a video about Tomorrowland including images of SN's flight:
http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/169064 ... tour.jhtml
While the site says that the content of it may not be available it is viewable from Belgium so just go to the US site even when the site suggests the Belgian site.

Re: SN brings party people to Tomorrowland
That party flight looks just awesome ... reminds me (a little bit) of my own trip in 2011 on EK's A380 upper deck to BKK - sipping cocktails in the sky bar while flying over India ...
No live DJ set though ...
Re: SN brings party people to Tomorrowland
An official video of the flight on the Youtube channel: TomorrowlandChannel
Without doubt very good advertisement for Brussels Airlines. This festival already has the title of Best Dancefestival in the world, but there are already international (and national of course) media claiming this is simply the best festival in the world (the fact that more than 2 million people from all over the world tried to get a ticket at the moment that they went for sale but failed to get one says already a lot).
So being the official carrier of such an extremely popular and very international (tough still Belgian) festival can't be bad.

Re: SN brings party people to Tomorrowland
Brussels Airlines is betting a lot on this event, and I hope they are doing right. But I wonder what is the cost/benefits ratio of this operation.
On the income side, I do hope they got the right money for their tickets. One charter from Barcelona, plus seats on regulat flights from 24 other destinations. They should made a profit on them (hopefully, because one knows that their European operations are not profitable, and I doubt that many attendants of Tomorrowland came from Africa).
On the expense side, that giant Ferris wheel called the Brussels Airlines Cloud Rider must not be on the cheap side. The animation on the charter from BCN, the hostesses and special welcome stands at foreign destinations and at Brussels Airport also have a cost. And one year of free flights to a winner is not free for SN.
It is impossible to calculate the future revenues generated by the added fame of Brussels Airlines. The event in itself should be a profit maker. I am not sure it is actually the case...

Re: SN brings party people to Tomorrowland
One must not forget that aside the sales of flight tickets, this event gave huge publicity to Brussels Airlines (which can also be seen as publicity). Publicity can be calculated by counting the air minutes on tv and article space in newspapers...
