Another year flies by with great success! To wrap up the amazing year of 2019, Qatar Airways is celebrating with a very special delivery of four new Airbus A350 in a span of just four days!

And they are not flying back to Victorville, Toulouse or Hamburg right after delivery

It's not my intention to jeopardize this topic but isn't that a bit of a stupid remark?
Do you know the reason why they headed back to the US? I guess not…
And as far as I know, there are also a couple of Etihad A350-1000's stored in BOD, straight from the factory.

Cheers,

The reason is not 100% sure but it can be cabin layout... (and maybe in Qatar some administrative stuff)

But Etihads planes are there because of financial problems at Etihad. Totally different situation...
But you are right 1bout the first part of your comment.

You might have realised that most comments in social media about flying seven Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners from Payne Field to Doha, and immediately thereafter to Victorville, are negative. What a waste of fuel and what a disastrous effect on climate and on the public opinion!

If the reason is administrative or financial (for Boeing to record the sale in 2019 instead of 2020, or any other reason that I don't know), the administrative rules are stupid: it would have been much more efficient to send the planes directly from Everett to Victorville.

To get ownership, A/C's need to go through customs process in some countries, and that needs to be achieved with the A/C physically at the entrance port (airport), where custom are approved for such process.

Airbus is moving ahead with the development of a freighter version of the A350 and would formally launch the programme once it secures a charter order.

Sign of the times? Switching from larger to smaller: Cathay Pacific has switched two orders for the Airbus A350-1000 to the Airbus A350-900.
