Iran Air flights to refuel in Belgrade and/or Budapest

Post by globetrotter »

IR have started using BEG as a tech stop for return leg of flights from Europe to Tehran after the last western fuel supplier OMV decided not to renew their contract due to sanctions. interestingly passengers stay onboard during refuelling http://exyuaviation.blogspot.com/2011/0 ... grade.html

UPDATE: Budapest is also being used now according to Hugarian posters at other boards, infact it could be that refuelling is now only being done there.

They're picking fuel from Kent too.

Upcomming september I will fly to Tehran. Some weeks ago I got an email that on our way back (with a BMI A321) an extra stop is added (in Yerevan, Armenia). I guess it looks like the 'fuel war' will continue for some time.

Btw, even with Ethiopian Airlines passengers remain on board while refuelling during the (looooooooong) stopover in Paris.

You're correct. It's not uncommon that the passengers remain on board whilst refueling. The only requirement I know of is that passengers must unfasten their seatbelt whilst refueling.
