6th A330 for Brussels Airlines ?
Is there any more news concerning a possible 6th?
(and maybe it's better to open a new topic?)

Re: 5th A330 for Brussels Airlines
There is nothing official, but next year will be already a busy year with 3 extra A319's (4 new but SSP is leaving) and 2 new A320's coming to join the fleet.DeltaWiskey wrote:Is there any more news concerning a possible 6th?![]()
Lately I've been hearing 2 versions about the A330...
1: a 6th A330 may be joining towards the end of 2011
2: a 6th A330 would be joining pretty quick in 2011, and would be to replace ad hoc the OO-SFM, SFN and SFO while they would recieve their new paintjob and new interior. This would mean that there would be 6 A330 in the company, but still only 5 flying in 2011 (each time -1 for C check, painting and new interior)
By the way, paintjobs start already in January!

It is clear that we need a 6th and even a 7th A330 to keep expanding in Africa and to 'de-triangle' most of our flights + increase the flights to a number of key destinations.
And ofcourse extra aircrafts to start the TATL flights in 2012!

Thanks, much appreciated!

I picked up alot of rumours. All were different. But the one thing they had in common was that by the end of 2012 there should be 8 flying around... ![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)

Looks reasonable: two for AFI expansion and one for TATL flights = 8, that must be possible for 2012.Polaris wrote:I picked up alot of rumours. All were different. But the one thing they had in common was that by the end of 2012 there should be 8 flying around...
Probably something like 1 in 2011 and two more in 2012.

let's stay in 2010 for another month shall we?
Re: 6th A330 for Brussels Airlines
I just say that 8 A330's at the end of 2012 looks reasonable. No big dreams as far as I know. If SN want to be competitive in the future, 8 long haul aircraft at the end of 2012 is an absolutly minimum if you ask me. They have to expand in AFI: more destinations, more frequenties, some routes should be non-stop..., they want flights to America (wich we can expect as from 2012)... As far as I know all this requires quite some long haul aircraft. So "just" 3 more in two years is not some kind of dream but something essential to stay competitive in the future (look at AF/KLM: SN attacked them on 3 of their monopoly routes this year => AF/KLM started Kigali and announced Monrovia and Freetown. SN can't do anything against that without more capacity).dsa330 wrote: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53bAvreS ... re=related![]()

SN can't stay growing with "only" 1 more long haul aircraft a year or even less than 1 a year. So 1 more A333 in 2011 (early or late 2011? depending on SN's choice of replacing capacity while the others are in maintenance?) and two in 2012 sounds logicall to me.

i think LH will play a big role in the future to...
Re: 6th A330 for Brussels Airlines ?
Hi all,
If the current A330s are having a C-check, and there is not (yet) an additional A330, the A330 from the Ministry of Defence will be used as a back-up, or not?
If not, this would mean less flights during the first half of 2011, no?
Cheers,
Danny

Re: 6th A330 for Brussels Airlines ?
Malaysia Airlines will start taking deliveries of their new A330-300's from April. Assuming these a/c will replace older a/c, what are the odds that SN will take over another former MH A330-300?

when it will indeed be an ex-swiss bird, it will be a -200. They're phasing those out in favour of the -300.Airbus A330 wrote:Will it be a -200 or a -300 ?

IF it will be an LX a/c it will be a -200.
I don't think they would phase-out their brand new -300's

According Flightglobal: Aer Lingus to sell one A330 and one short-haul aircraft
Aer Lingus has one A330-301 in Storage since last month: EI-ORD this is a sister aircraft of OO-SFM,N,O
