Fuel surcharge on awards. Any move from the EU?

Most agree that fuel surcharges are often misleading and non transparent.

But when it comes to frequent flyer awards, it becomes a real scam from the airlines. Many US airlines don’t defraud the passenger that way anymore (DoT regulation maybe?), but most EU airlines still do. Yes I think I have to pay third party airport or government fees, but airline fees such as fuel surcharges are just a theft when it comes to award tickets.

A supposively “free” ticket to Bangkok with LH would cost me around 350 EUR, a great part in fuel surcharge, thus airline revenue. And European destinations award tickets are a non sense for me anymore: why pay 20.000 (or more) miles + 100 EUR (or more) when I can fly for the same price with an advance booking?

I now have quite some miles I’m waiting to use… Is there any recent move from the EU Commission or Parliament to ban those surcharges on frequent flyer awards ticket?

I am as astonished and shocked as you are by this practice.
I have decided some years ago to leave all those mileage programs and I go for the cheap option at that moment.
I think I have now 5 memberships, but I don't care. They just fill my mailbox .
