The Qantas plane landed without incident after an indicator in the cockpit showed a defect with one of the aircraft's flaps.
A Qantas flight from Sydney to Canberra was forced to abort a landing this afternoon.
Qantas says an indicator in the cockpit showed a defect with one of the plane's flaps as it was preparing to land.
The plane circled Canberra Airport so the pilot could conduct checks and landed without incident about half-an-hour late.
Qantas has been forced to defend its maintenance procedures after a series of mechanical problems over the past fortnight.

Re: Qantas plane circles airport after flap scare
Are you going to create a subject everytime that a Quantas Captain makes an entry in the Techlog??
Birdstrike, flaps locked, IFSD (bearing failure, oil leak, stall,etc...), burst tires, brakes dragging, hydraulic leaks, etc...happens everyday and all over the world....

Re: Qantas plane circles airport after flap scare
Unfortunately Qantas have been suffering badly with technical problems lately. I hope this will not danger any lives in the near future. They assure the public that all is under control!
