Qantas A380s were delayed on the ground at both Los Angeles and Melbourne recently with technical faults. Passengers were held on the tarmac for long periods. Not earth shaking news, but may be of interest to some.

Re: Qantas A380 delays
One of the problems is lack of back up crews. The plane goes tech for 4 or 5 hours, the rostered crew can't fly because if they did they would break shift limits, no backup crew available so Passengers end up flying the next day after sitting on the tarmac for a few hours in the hope of flying today.
Problem should resolve to some extent as fleet increases.

Re: Qantas A380 delays
They show up ready to do their work and end up wasting their time waiting to fly the aircraft that cannot be flown for no fault of theirs. Do they get full pay or not?
