Hollywood

How long is the drive from Hollywood to Yosemite park for this vacationer? I live in NY and want to visit California with my girlfriend. I want to show her a beautiful waterfall. Would Yosemite park be the place to go? How far is it from Hollywood which is where we were thinking of spending most of our time there? Any other tips are appreciated. I've never been to California before.

Yosemite is the place where I saw the nicest waterfalls in the world. I visited the National Park in 1990 (doesn't make me any younger) and if I remember correctly the drive from LA (or Hollywood if you prefer)should be some 4 to 5 hours.
