Many flemish glider clubs organize their yearly glider camps this summer.
You don't need any prerequisites to participate. Experienced instructors teach you the art of glider flying from the very beginning. Anyone age 14 or older can participate.
Such a camp takes 1 or 2 weeks. Every single day you take multiple training flights. By flying so much in a very short period of time, you achieve a sharp learning curve. Low cost is a nature of glider flying in comparison with motorized flying. Due to the timing and the low cost, these camps are very accessible for students.
Glider flying is not only an extremely valuable preparation for or addition to any professional pilot training or carreer. In the first place glider flying is fun and challenging. Any control input has to be correct or you'll be punished with loss of speed or altitude (or both). You'll become one with your aircraft in order to feel what it wants to do and where the thermals are to lenghten your flight for hours. You will experience any aerodynamic effect you might have read about in the books but never noticed in a motorized aircraft.
You'll find clubs offering camp opportunities in Kortrijk, Geraardsbergen, Weelde, Oostmalle, Hasselt, Leuven and Genk. All information about these camps or glider flying in Flanders in general can be found on

Don't hesitate to contact a glider club in your neighbourhood for additional info.
Please note glider activity in general and these camps particularly are non-commercial activities.
Kind regards,
Heikki
Enjoy the purest flying
