Just heard that the aircraft is now standing in the grass next to the runway. It approached the runway very normally but once it hit the ground it turned to the left and came to rest in the grass.
No immediat visual damage is reported, but we'll have to wait untill the experts check the aircraft before we'll know if it has got any damage.
A friend of mine was taking pictures of the aircraft on that moment. I'll try to convince him to post his pics here ...
:wow:
Thanks a lot for this nice report and the quick picture delivery
It proves that luchtzak really is everywhere
I hope they'll continue to train the pilots on wet conditions, if indeed that were the indonesian pilots training before delivery. (If I remember well they have monsoon over there, so that's quite wet too )
Thanks for those great photos
I just hope this small "incident" isn't "fresh food" for those who wants that Ostend should be closed there has been already enough incidents/accidents at Ostend to let those guys show that an airport as Ostend is dangerous so close to all those shopping centr's and houses/appartments , they already managed it to keep those IL76's away from Ostend...
We've just discovered on one of the approach shots that the nosegear of the F50 was pointed to the right when it was about to touch down ... 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O
If you compare the nosegear with the main landing gear, you'll see that the nosegear is pointed to the right.
On the pictures in the previous reply's you can also see that the pilot is trying to keep the aircraft on the runway by using his rudder.
What do you think ? Nose gear jammed ? Or simply human error ???
I don't think the nosegear was jammed as it later on taxied to the apron on it self ...
We didn't draw our conclusions from 1 picture, but from an entire serie of pictures. This morning, we went to our teacher aviation-technologie and explained the situation.
He thinks it's a malfunction in the centering mechanism of the nose landing gear. That mechanism should center the gear when it is extracted. So not a human error as I first thought.
As soon as we know the official reason, I'll post it here.
If u take a look @pics 1-4, you can see a little bit of smoke around the nosegear, and indeed positioned to the right. Those men around the plane are also looking to that nosegear
Just heard from someone who was listening to his scanner at the moment that the F50 was training that it had made it's last touch and go and was flying back to the Netherlands when a small fire started to burn. The pilot decided to return to EBOS ...
