Forbidden object

Post by oliviervermeersch »

Hello,

Does somebody know if a smoke producer (fumigène) is a forbidden object if you keep it in the 'hold luggage' ? (EU)
Note that a smoke producer is NOT a flare or any other pyrotechnic object.
It only produces smoke to use in case of emergency.
I keep it always with me when I travell.

It's not listed in the table for 'provisions of dangerous goods for passengers and crew' so if it's not on the list it's exluded from taking it on an aircraft. But the question is would it be considered as a dangerous good?
What about security rules? I don't know?
Is there any liquid in a smoke producer? or a battery? some kind of ignition?...probably all those things are forbidden...
I would contact the airline and ask it...

I also take a VHF transceiver, chaff and flares, an ELT 121.5 transmitter, a parachute, a donut float tube, oxygen supply and some beef-jerkee or other dried meat in my bag when I travel.

You never know...

Thanks for the information.

Oh yes,
some people like holidays on the beach,
they won't need all that stuff...
