Operation Isotope (1972)

Post by SN30952 »

Operation Isotope* was the first successful airplane raid in history.
Ehud Barak, the former Israeli Prime Minister, lead the Sayeret MATKAL entry team (disguised as refueling personnel) during the Sabena air plane raid, 1972. Flight SN572
These hostage rescue tactics, the airplane raid techniques developed in the 1970's and in 1980's by Sayeret MATKAL** and Unit YAMAM, are used globally even today.

Crews and ground crews got trained. Sabena's exceptional situations handbook was one of the best in the industry.
Terrorists tried it only once with Sabena, " it was no good eating cherries, Sabena".
One colleague got hurt in that operation.
