Please find herewith the report of Paddy Kilduff , ex Aer Lingus colleague /Quote
When I saw that Lufthansa A380 was routing over Belfast and that it was a clear day I said to my wife, Margaret, that we could get to Belfast before the aircraft passed over. I was quite surprised when she said it sounded like a good idea and it was a lovely day for a drive. So we set off at 1600 from Swords and arrived at Newtownards Airfield (which I thought was a suitable spot for viewing) at 1830. Thanks to Joe Bishop I was aware that the A380 had taken off 20 mins late from Frankfurt and was due over Belfast at 1852L. So, in the company of four local microlight pilots, we watched and photographed the A380 as it passed over in a clear blue sky, from 1850 to 1855 approx. The pilots proposed that it was a historic occasion for Newtownards and thanked me for coming up from Dublin to point out the A380 to them. One of them even checked that I was aware that Aer Lingus should really be spelt Aer Loingeas and spoken with a soft "g".
