SkyBlue eyes a more ambitious startup fleet
Caribbean startup airline SkyBlue looks into a more ambitious fleet
SkyBlue, the new inter-island carrier in the Caribbean, is not satisfied with the Dash 7 which it was originally planning to lease. As a replacement it is looking into the Dash 8 made by the same Canadian manufacturer.
At a press conference this morning, the CEO of the airline explains why the change might occur: "The Dash 7 was mainly eyed because of it's impressive short-field capabilities. After further research, we found that the more modern Dash 8 would be a more economical solution." SkyBlue is currently looking into purchasing 3 of these aircraft, of which 2 are options if the airline does well and can expand.
The Dash 8-Q200, built by the Canadian manufacturer Bombardier, is capable of holding 37 passengers with a cruising speed of 546km/h and a range of 1795km. It has a spacious cabin and a digital noise and vibration reduction system.
