Boeing to market An-148?

Post by TEJAVIA »

A close friend in Ukraine tells me a senior Boeing executive has just made a statement that Boeing will market the An-148.

Ukraine has no bilateral agreement with USA (AC21-23b); and, the An-148 is in direct competition with the "Superjet 100" (RRJ).

I would like to post a news link on my site www.tejavia.com

By the way, this is my first post here. I like your website and message board, - well done! :D

I am an importer of aviation goods and welcome any contacts for new products.:D

Cheers, RS

Very interesting. I wonder if this will be successful. The western airlines have stayed away from Soviet aircraft types for a long time now, so it would be interesting to see this type in the fleet of western airlines. After all, it does seem like quite a good aircraft.

Hard to find recent news about the AN-148.
The website of the Ukrainian government had this on 26/12/2006:
According to Ukrainian Transport and Communication Minister Mykola Rudkovsky, European certification of AN-148 plane basing on European CS-25 aviation requirements will go on. An agreement that Ukraine will certify AN-148 for the European market was reached during a visit of Mykola Rudkovsky to France and negotiations with leading French companies.

And another message says:
...
while the process of certification of the airplane for use on the European market will last 1-2 years.

Another article from 28/12/2006 (Russian) says:
In December 2006 the An-148 competed certification testing and is expected receive its type certificate from the Interstate Aviation Committee Aviation Register (IAC AR) in February 2007.

I think the An-148 will sell a lot better with the 'Approved by Boeing' stamp on it.
