Brussels Airport Company has announced an increase in its fees:
EUR 23.49 instead of 22.44 departure tax,
EUR 2.05 instead of EUR 1.53 landing fee,
etc.
This is justified, according to BAC, by the extension of the security zone: a larger part of the airport will now require access with a security badge.
I do not understand. Since a wider area is now secure, there will be less controls (people travelling through the secure area will not need to be controlled any longer once they are inside), thus the cost of security should decrease, and not increase.
Can someone from BAC please explain?

It's very simple. Lots of extra equipment is needed to comply with the new EU-laws starting from 01/01/07. The costs for these new infrastructures and equipment and buildings must be enormous!
By the way, abbreviating "The Brussels Airport Corporation" to "BAC" "TBAC" "BA" or others is not at all appreciated by them.
