NIS - After talks between Jat Airways and Nis Airport authorities, Serbia's national carrier has agreed to open direct flights from Nis to Europe. Starcevic said that JAT found Nis to be unprofitable during the a/c shortage and finanical problems in the company. He also said that he understands that JAT is not a Belgrade company but a Serbian company.
The ministry of Capital Investment of Serbia will grant JAT the licences by the end of the month while Airport Nis authorities have commented that JAT has made the right decision.
JAT will open flights to Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, and Vienna twice a week, whil Basel will be flown once a week. Zurich will still continue.
Montenegro Airlines will from October 28th end their flights between Nis and Zurich, along with flights between Belgrade and Zurich.
Jat Airways is still waiting for the UNMIK to give JAT rights to return flights to Pristina, where JAT will open their thrid hub.
