OLYMPIC AIRLINES winter 2005-2006 a good airline

Post by Johan V »

Trip report: Olympic airlines. OA 146 (BRU -> ATH) and OA 147 (ATH ->BRU)

23 december2005; OA 146; departing: 12.30 arriving 16.30.

Last Christmas I went to my aunt in Greece with my sister. When we arrived at the airport we checked in and went to the gate. There I saw on the screens we had a half -our delay; so we went to drink something at the cafeteria just next. There we saw our Boeing 737-400 named STAGEIRA arriving. A few seconds later I saw the pilot and a stewardess drinking a coffee at the cafeteria too; very nice!... Later they went back to the aircraft and we boarded. When we boarded we could listen Christmas songs like “rocking around the Christmas tree”… and the “towels” hanging on the seats were decorated with Christmas drawings. It was very agreeable!
The cabin crew was composed of three women and two men. The cabin crew said “hello” “welcome on board”. The flight was very nice. There was a good entertainment and music program. The rest of the flight was pleasant: good food, clean cabin etc…

Flight: 9/10.

06 January 2006; OA 147; departing: 16h40 arriving 19.00.

When the Christmass period ended I went back to Brussels. I went to the very beautiful airport Eleftherios Venizelos. I checked in and I greeted my aunt. On my boarding pass the gate was B02, and the boarding time on 16.00 but the gate wasn’t open at 15.55! Other passengers and I went to ask the security agent and finally was an error; we must go to gate B22.When we arrived at the gate we boarded after 20 minutes, when we arrived we took the Olympic bus and went to board the Boeing 737-400 named DION. The cabin crew was composed by a man and 4 women. The man was the chief attendant.
We had again a half our delay because the radar of the aircraft was damaged and the technicians must arrange it. The crew began to serve (while on ground) portokalada kai ximo. When the trolley arrived to our seats I asked an orange juice. I asked too: “Sorry, do you know if we will depart soon?” and she answered to me: “Yes!!! Yes!!! In a few minutes!!!” with an angry way. Another stewardess was extremely rude. She looked very angry .
After we departed the crew gave us headphones, drinking and a delicious meal.
The seats in front of me were occupied by a woman and her chills that always jumped on his seat and made noise; so when the meal-trolley arrived the stewardess looked at them angrily and said to the other : - “This woman don’t carries her child; how is this possible!”.
And the other said: - “Oh! What do you want? We were also like that! Haha!”
Later we received thee and coffee.
The flight ended after2 hours and 40 minutes. It was a nice flight.

Flight: 8.5/10. :D

Welcome to Luchtzak, Johan.

Nice report (even if it relates to an old trip).

Will Olympic remain this way when one knows its current financial problems?

Actually Olympic Airways is growing very good again!

Since september, half of the Greek airliner is in private hands. Before it was property of the State. My last flight with Olympic was begin August 2006. I made a flight report which you can see on this forum too. Just search my name with the search function and you'll find it.
I was so impressed of their service that I said to myself, something is going on here...And as I heard from someone working in Olympic Technics, Olympic was negotiating with private investors to take over half of the company from September 2006. That's why the crewmembers and people working for Olympic gave us such a good service...No one wants to lose his/her job like the people of Sabena did?!

I'm very satisfied with Olympic Airways now! And because I fly every summer to my Family in Greece, I already know which company will transfer me trough the air.

:) Dear André,

Thanks for this compliment, I make good reports, fine :)

Well, I'll make some pictures, I promise it,

Well to be earnest I'm a little 'afraid about it' .
For making pictures of the aircraft it's not a problem but let's hope that at arriving at El Venizelos airoport the disboarding will not happen by a gate but by bus, to have a better view of the aircraft.
About pictures of the cabin, that I really like) I'm afraid that when I make pictures of cabin, the (mostly rude) crew will shout at me or thinking: " why dos he make pictures of the cabin isn't it ridiculous :o ??? "
Do you understand?
:(

But I'll risk it and let's hope the crew will be kind enough... :)
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF IT???
Kind regards,
Hope you answer. :D
