bmibaby schock decision

Post by jet2uk »

bmibaby announced today that they are withdrawing all their routes from Durham tees valley airport (MME), apparantly because of lack of demand but looks like the airport has lashed back saying some of the routes were very successful. The planes are going to be relocated to somewhere else in its network on oct 31st/Nov6th. This now leaves MME without based LCCs. But it seems very late to be cancelling the routes and surely they won't be able to move the planes and get them in use straight away, so does this mean that they will be out of use for a while? or retired? or leased? Although so far no sign of its partner company BMI withdrawing feeder route to heathrow!

Eastern Airways should take over some of the routes at MME.

i agree, they recently decided to base a crew and plane there, so eastern airways could be good as a replacement on the route to gatwick, but im not sure if there planes would manage flights to ireland and id reckon that its not in eastern airways' style to offer a summer service to jersey, perhaps jet2 will be soon to move into MME
