Turkish Airlines or Easy Jet?

Post by Captain »

I will be flying to Istanbul in a few months from London in Y class and at present have found very good deals with Turkish Airlines or EasyJet.

Turkish airlines best deal is from Stansted and Easyjet is from Luton, I don't mind travelling to either but if I were to fly from LHR with Turkish the price is nearly doubled.

Any recommendations as to who I should travel with?

Well If you want to buy all your drinks and food, fly with Easy Jet. If not then try THY.

The other thing you should know is that THY fly to Istanbul Ataturk which is let's say 25KM to Istanbul's centre and on the European side of Istanbul.

Easy Jet flies to Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen which is approx. 50KM away from the centre of Istanbul and on the Asian side of Istanbul.

If you are going for F1 Formula races in Istanbul, Sabiha Gokcen Airport will be only 6KM away from F1 circuit.

Enjoy your stay and let us know your experience about your flights with either TK or EZY.

Cheers.

I would advise to pick Turkish if the price difference isn't too big, since traditional carriers generally have a better in-flight service, better legroom and better support if anything goes wrong.

Thanks guys for excellent info.

I think I will go with Turkish as they fly to Ataturk and you also get in-flight service.

I may be able to go on one of their A310's on the return leg which should be interesting. It's still 2 months away, but I'll post a report with pictures.

Hi, I flew Easyjet in July and Turkish yesterday evening. Although easyjet is one of the best low cost carriers there is around for the moment, I would choose Turkish. The flight was perfect yesterday: punctual, friendly service, good food and drinks, a movie (between Brussels and Istanbul!!!!!)

Merhaba,

Could you explain! It's not the best solution for everybody, well for people travelling on the south side of Istanbul. Don you know the price and the... traffic jams passing the Bosforus?

And rarelly sure 100 %

My decision is based on my own exprerience with EasyJet and reactions from people that flew Turkish.
Price is a big factor since we talk about a low cost carrier and a "full service" airline.
Maybe there is a option available with Corendon?

I didn't check but maybe you can start a frequent flyer program with Turkish as well. You never know where you gonna fly to in the future.

Will be flying with BA instead

Post by Captain »

BA launched special World offers for September so for £107 rtn I will fly with them as it's actually cheaper than Turkish or Easy Jet for the dates I want and I get to fly from Heathrow and on a 767 on both legs and lands at Istanbul's main airport:-)

I'll post a complete trip report in a few weeks.

Good choice! Love BA! And if they're the cheapest...

Cheers,
