Air France pilot detained for alleged remarks apt security
Air France pilot detained after alleged remarks to airport security.
An Air France pilot was detained Friday after he allegedly made remarks about the plane blowing up as his baggage was being screened at Kennedy Airport, authorities said.
An alarm went off as the pilot's checked luggage was sent through a screening machine, and he was called back to the machine, according to Transportation Security Administration spokeswoman Amy von Walter.
As screeners were inspecting his bags, the pilot made comments that included references to the plane blowing up, him blowing up and the story ending up on the front page of The New York Times, Ms. von Walter said.
Screeners notified Port Authority police, she said.
The screeners completed their inspection and there was no problem with the bag, she said.
Air France spokesman Jim Faulkner said the pilot, whose name was not released, was taken in for questioning and released.
He said he could neither confirm nor deny the pilot's comments.
The passengers on the plane, Air France Flight 23 to Paris, were put on other flights, Mr. Faulkner said.
In August, an Air France pilot was arrested after allegedly telling a security screener he had a bomb in his shoe. No explosives were found on the pilot or the plane.
Remark
Why not ask JFK apt-security to pass our IQ test?
And why should a pilot blow up its own aircraft?
piece of advise for Air France pilots: Even if it is difficult for Europeans to level with American airport security staff members, you will have to coop with these underpaid, undereducated layer of their society. So don't ever smile, or talk with them. Just answer by yes or no to their questions, anything else they do not understand.

The French and the Irish are stupid, the Scots and the Dutch are greedy, the Germans have no sense of humour and the Italian are fascist!A318 wrote:Again the French prove themself how stupid they are
With statements like that, you go nowhere.
Some French are stupid, in the same way as some Dutch and some Belgians. But don't generalise....

Hi Andre(sn26567),
I think this is highly OFF TOPIC and provokes cultural tensions.
It doesn't comply with luchtzal high standards.

Hi Andre (777),
I hope that you take my remarks "au second degré" (in French) or "cum grano salis" (in Latin). I did not mean to be offensive to anyone, but just give examples in order to avoid generalisations.
YES, people from everywhere can act stupidly (not only the French).
NO, most citizens from countries described as greedy, stupid, or lacking any sense of humour are NOT greedy, etc.
That was my point, and nothing else.
And now back to the topic!

Hi SN30952,
Are they really that underpaid and undereducated ?
That would explain those security leaks, like the ones
in Italy.
It's a pitty for the passengers, I don't feel that safe anymore.
See you

The human factor
In security it usually NOT the hardware NOR the software BUT the human factor that is the weakest link.777 wrote:[That would explain those security leaks, like the ones

Who will risk his/her live for somebody he does not know?
Does somebody has data about the training of these people?
I see what happens here in Thailand: a real joke... I see relatively young people manning these posts, and they do not inspire any reliability..
But airport like Singapore seem to handle this more professionally.

This one you will like, andre?777 wrote:Are they really that underpaid and undereducated? See you andre
A robot dog that "breaks wind" set off a security scare at the Norfolk, Va., airport, it was reported Saturday.
Security officials jumped on high alert when the toy's wind-breaking mechanism registered as a high explosive on sensitive monitoring equipment, the BBC reports.
Dave Rogerson, 31, of Thorner, Leeds, England, said he watched incredulously as FBI agents took a series of swabs from the mechanical toy's rear end.
The toy was eventually returned to him, but Rogerson was not allowed to take his planned flight and had to take an alternative route to North Carolina.
'There's no humour at American check-ins and for about 20 minutes I was quite scared,' he told the BBC. 'They were very jumpy and convinced there was something explosive in the dog.'
