OST 07/06/2006

Post by Andries »

Got my new lens today, the Canon 75-300 III USM. It will serve the entire summer untill I get my 50-500 and will then be used as a back-up lens for the Bigma.

When I got it this morning, I took it out of the box and put it on my camera ... Error 99  Whatever I did, I could not get the lens working on my EOS 10D. In an act of despair, I put the lens on my old EOS 500N to see if it actually worked. To my surprise, the lens worked perfectly ! So I put it back on my EOS 10D and it worked ! It was alive ! Alive I tell ya !

Anyway, went to OST to do some testing ... very hot weather, so all my "ground" shots are messed up by the heathaze (and lots of it). Anyway, here are 2 shots of some "air-action".

As some of you allready know, MK Airlines plans on changing from the Ghana registration to a British Registration. Words are being spread the first aircraft will be re-registered G-MKAA and G-MKAB.

Well, if you look closely to the first picture, you will see that the "MKQ" on the gearbay doors are not painted, but put on there using a sticker. Now as you can see, some of the sticker has peeled off ... and what can you see ? Yes, it's "MKAA"

Heathaze was indeed a problem today...so getting as close as possible was THE big issue! The most obvious solution was shooting through one of the holes in the fence resulting in acceptable pictures...

Murray Air and African Intl. landed on Rw08 with only about 1 minute between both oldies...giving us a good chance to look at the different way of putting engines in reverse!

AN12 stylish arrival of Murray Air... Bad quality because of distance, and ... yes, heathaze...

:offtopic: and I suppose it will be deleted in a sec but :

Apparently it's easier to spit some poison on the forum, than to confront "big brother" in the field... because in the field there are some "responsible young spotters" who don't even have the guts to confront "big brother" while they have the opportunity (maybe because they know they don't have "a leg to walk on")

Yeetz

Yes idd the weather didn't comply today. I went there 2 times today. For the arrival of those 2 DC8's I was standing with Pietn at the Toyota garage. We thought RWY26 was in use at that time cause there was quite some general aviation traffic landing on it. Just to hear African reversing when landing on RWY 08...
We scrambled to the fence at the loop of 26. Bud sadly by shooting from there the heat haze killed al my pics.... :x
For the departure of murray it was the same story again...

Nice pics Caffy and Mich, hope your lens doesn't die again
