Two AirCanada A340-500 for SALE!!!

Post by MrAirbus »

Well I suppose they could make much money with a small fleet of A340-500 so before they get to old they are now up for sale!

This is the start of the end for Airbus wide body in Air Canada fleet.

After this sale they will either cancel there 3 A340-600 on order ore convert the other for other Airbus planes. (This order is still on the Airbus order list)

What a shame to lose such a big North American costumer!

You apperantly missed the big Air Canada boeing order. They ordered a bunch of B777 (200LR(F)/300ER) and B787's in favour of the Airbuses. This order will replace their current airbus long haul equipment.

i think Air Canada is going to an all Boeing widebody fleet, using Airbus aircraft for the narrow body fleet, much like what United Airlines has done.

I don't want to call the A340 a flop, but it has to be the biggest disappointment for airlines who ordered this plane and got promises of fuel efficiency, and ended up buying a very inefficient 4 engine jetliner. I believe Airbus should just put an end to the A340 program and concentrate on the A380, new A350(not the sham A350) and start studying the possibilities of replacing the A320. Still, I get tickled with the A340, if Airbus puts an end to the A340 program, what will they do with the "4 engines 4 long haul" slogan? :thumbsup2:

I agree. It seems that Airbus is going down the same path as McDonnell Douglas did with the MD-11 in the 90's.

You hit the nail on the head! Airbus should develop an A350 that is capable of competing with all aircraft from the 767-200 to the 777-200. After that, they should develop an aircraft that can seat from 100 to 180 pax (A32X replacement).
Onward and Upward...

I'm glad they will get rid of them because I just came back from two-16 hrs long haul flights on AC's A345 (YYZ-HKG-YYZ). From a passenger stand point, the B777s feel much more roomier, specially the overhead luggage compartment. I don't want to start Airbus VS. Boeing debate because I don't give a darn about either.
