I wonder how many of those upper-deck-reaching catering trucks will fall over due to a slight breeze.

They should pass this test easily, or else how will they stretch it?

I hear from my colleagues that the A380 is too heavy, has weak wings, cannot be certified, is dangerous to evacuate (if you can manage it), produces traffic disturbing wake

:offtopic:
This article is a good read  ILFC predicts A380 demand surge

Speaking at the presentation of EADS's annual results in Paris two weeks ago, Noël Forgeard said :
"The static test of the wing will not be redone. We have enough elements to prove that the wing is good. Maybe there will be minor local reinforcements somewhere, but it is absolutely not considered that it might be necessary to redo the test."
He said that the first A380 will be delivered to launch operator Singapore Airlines on time, by the end of the year. "It is a real challenge, but we will do it."

Actually the test did not go well at all, there were many injured and the test was cancelled.

A Quote from Gustav Humbert:

``We successfully evacuated 873 people in 80 seconds,'' Airbus Chief Executive Gustav Humbert told reporters at a briefing after the test, according to spokesman Tore Prang, who was present. The evacuation time was less than the 90 second goal required by air authorities. Only half of the 16 doors were in operation, as required by the test.

Wonder which test he was at?

The report of Reuters was wrong!

They completed the test in 79 - 80 seconds, 31 injuries, 1 older man had a broken leg

That's also what I was thinking. It's very strange only Reuters is reporting the test was interrupted while so many other say it was a total succes !

Even Reuters France sais it was a total succes ...

Nice to hear the test went well. Hope the old man will quickly recover and get some compensation from Airbus ;)

This Bloomberg articlestates that the volunteers were young and fit, not elderly. I would have thought elderly volunteers would be needed to ensure the test was as realistic as possible.

It must have been like some sort of adventure park ride to jump on a slide from the top deck of an A380 in a totally dark hangar. The evacuation was filmed using infra red cameras.
